On July 25, 2025, Tim McMillan was loading his mower onto a trailer. The mower fell, pinning him beneath it and gasoline began leaking from the mower. 1 1/2 hours later he was found and rescued. Gasoline had soaked his shirt and his spinal cord had been damaged. Two vertebrae is in his lower back were crushed, and he could not move or feel his legs. He was able to remove his shirt and after help arrived he was taken to Labette Health then life flighted to Mercy hospital and Burn Center in Springfield Missouri.
Tim, and wife Linda, are residents of South Mound, Kansas. After being in the hospital and rehabilitation for two months they have returned home and they are learning to “live with” the limitations associated with a spinal cord injury. We were able to visit them in their home early in October and they are wonderful people. Everyone in the Parsons area that we have talked to says Tim and Linda are great people and would give anything to help a neighbor.
Our organization is currently working to purchase and install an overhead ceiling lift system to help him get in and out of bed independently and safely. This is a pretty devastating injury for anyone of any age, but they are near 70 years old and it’s important that they take care of themselves to preserve the physical capabilities they still have. If you feel inclined to “Help a neighbor” please let us know or send a check that we can use for their needs.
The Knights of Columbus is also doing a benefit breakfast this Sunday, October 26 from 8 AM to 11:30 AM in the Saint Francis Parish Hall, which is one block north of Highway 47 and the school in Saint Paul, Kansas.
