On August 17, 2024, Cody Cavender experienced a diving injury that required an extensive surgery, during which his C2-C7 vertebrae and parts of T1 were removed. Cody is currently paralyzed from the chest down, including his hands. He is currently in a rehabilitation facility in Lincoln, Nebraska, healing up from a skin surgery. They hope to begin the process of getting him out of bed and into a wheelchair sometime before the end of this year.
Cody is the loving husband of Jessica and a devoted father to five wonderful children: Lucas, Logan, Landon, Zayne, and Maddi. He has always been the cornerstone of his family, both emotionally and financially. Now, as Cody embarks on a long and challenging road to recovery, his family is facing significant financial burdens. Cody remains hopeful that he will regain the ability to walk again, but the journey ahead is uncertain and will require extensive rehabilitation and care.
With Cody unable to work, Jessica is shouldering the immense responsibility of caring for him and their children. The family is in urgent need of financial support to cover medical expenses, daily living costs, and other unforeseen expenses that have arisen from this tragedy. Additionally, they will need help with meals and day-to-day necessities as they adjust to this new reality. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in helping Cody and his family navigate through this incredibly challenging time. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated as they work towards Cody’s recovery and adapt to these life-altering changes.
